- Three books which each unpick one of the Characteristics of Effective Learning and look in detail at what they mean, what they look like in practice and how you can support children in their Play and Exploration, Active Learning and Creating and Thinking Critically. The books include observations, Learning Stories and case studies of practice;
- Achieving excellence in the early years:a guide for headteachers (2015) from Early Education. If you want to find out more about high quality EYFS practice in a nutshell then this book is for you. Dame Alison Peacock, in her introduction describes the chapters in the book as giving a 'visionary, yet detailed explanation of what early years teaching provides, leaving the reader in no doubt of the capacity of such practice to transform children's lives for the better' (p.10). Chapter 5 looks at Quality teaching; skillful teaching in the early years taking the Ofsted definition of teaching as its starting point
